West Virginia Selects HHAeXchange as State Aggregator for Electronic Visit Verification (EVV)

HHAeXchange to provide EVV aggregation to ensure 21st Century Cures Act compliance

New York, NY, November 17, 2020– HHAeXchange, a leading provider of homecare management solutions for payers, providers, and state Medicaid agencies, announced today that it has been selected by the West Virginia Bureau of Medical Services as its State aggregator for Electronic Visit Verification (EVV). The contract was awarded to HHAeXchange on October 21, 2020.

As West Virginia’s aggregator, HHAeXchange will provide comprehensive oversight and management of the State’s EVV data in compliance with the 21st Century Cures Act. Signed into law in 2016, the 21st Century Cures Act was designed to decrease fraud, waste, and abuse, and to help bring new innovations and medical advances faster to Medicaid participants who need them. Under the Cures Act, all Medicaid personal care services and home health care services must be electronically verified.

HHAeXchange’s Aggregator platform supports West Virginia’s Open EVV Model by consolidating all visit data regardless of the EVV system being used, reducing administrative burden, and delivering powerful data visualization and analytics dashboards to enable the State to manage provider compliance and ensure participants are receiving the right care at the right time.

The platform dynamically connects the West Virginia Medicaid Program to the vast network of homecare providers, improving the efficiency of the homecare ecosystem and the Medicaid program, and helping to ensure Medicaid members are receiving care. West Virginia providers will be able to submit confirmed visits and bill directly to the State through the free HHAeXchange Portal.

“Our mission here at HHAeXchange has always been twofold: to help provide better outcomes for participants, and to simplify the homecare management process along the way,” said Greg Strobel, CEO of HHAeXchange. “As West Virginia’s EVV partner, we’re looking forward to offering the State and its providers and direct care workers EVV tools that will not only allow them to ensure full compliance with the federal mandate, but also make their lives easier and help them deliver a higher quality of care for all participants.”

Earlier this year, HHAeXchange was also chosen by the State of New Jersey to aggregate Medicaid beneficiary visit data on its behalf. As an industry-leading provider of homecare management solutions, HHAeXchange has helped numerous states and MCOs manage billions of dollars in Medicaid claims while achieving a new level of oversight, transparency, and efficiency that hasn’t previously existed in the marketplace.

In the coming weeks, HHAeXchange and West Virginia will engage program stakeholders to educate them on next steps and ensure they receive all information necessary to support a successful implementation in Q1 2021.
