Alabama Medicaid has partnered with HHAeXchange to provide a free Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system for providers of personal care services and home health services. HHAeXchange features tools for scheduling, authorization management, communication for all HCBS waiver providers. HHAeXchange also offers tools and features to support the unique workflows of self-direction.

This questionnaire is designed to capture information about your provider agency necessary for Alabama Medicaid along with HHAeXchange as part of the effort to implement methods of collecting and reporting EVV compliant data for all HCBS waiver services related to Alabama Medicaid. Thank you for your participation in working with HHAeXchange on the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) integration for your agency. Below you will find information about the general requirements and steps to successfully integrate your 3rd Party EVV Management System with HHAeXchange. EDI Providers will be required to comply with both the business requirements and technical specifications listed below. Upon review of the documents below, please initiate contact with HHAX to begin the integration process.
What is HHAeXchange?
HHAeXchange is the premiere Homecare Management Software company for the Alabama Medicaid HCBS population. The HHAeXchange solution will connect payers and homecare providers to enable more collaboration, communication and workflow efficiencies.
How will the free HHAeXchange EVV system work?
Through the HHAeXchange Portal, Alabama Medicaid is offering free telephony for clock-in and clock-out functionality. Each agency who has indicated they’d like to use HHAeXchange’s free EVV system will be set up with a toll-free 800 number to provide to their caregivers. A caregiver will also be given the option to download the free HHAeXchange Mobile App available for both iPhone and Android users that can be used to clock-in and clock-out, review patient information and visit information

Can I use my own EVV system?
It is simple to connect your existing EVV system to the HHAeXchange portal. Please see the EDI Process page for additional information, and whom to contact.
What information will Alabama Medicaid send to my agency through the HHAeXchange Portal?
Alabama Medicaid will send authorizations and communications through the HHAeXchange portal.
How will the HHAeXchange Portal bill to Alabama Medicaid?
Claims will be created through the HHAeXchange Portal for verified visits and sent electronically via an 837 eBilling file to the fiscal agent for adjudication.
Can I check my claims before submitting them to Alabama Medicaid?
Yes. The HHAeXchange Portal provides a Prebilling Claims module designed to ensure that your claims are compliant with Alabama Medicaid EVV requirements.
Will I need a Portal for Alabama Medicaid?
Yes. You will need a Portal to connect to Alabama Medicaid for authorizations, communication, and billing.
Can I schedule my caregiver through the HHAeXchange Portal?
Yes. You’ll be able to schedule your caregivers through the HHAeXchange Portal.
How will I be trained on the HHAeXchange Portal?
